Natural wonders of Wester Ross

Throughout Wester Ross there are golden sandy beaches, magnificent mountains, stunning views, spectacular waterfalls, tranquil lochs … the list is endless.

The rocks which make up Wester Ross are largely Torridonian sandstone and Lewissean gneiss, which are some of the oldest rocks in the world. The whole area is shaped by glaciers. The visitor centres at Beinn Eighe and Knockan Crag explain more about the geology of the area and are well worth a visit.

Wester Ross is packed full of natural wonders, too many for a complete list, but the examples below and on the map give a taste of what you can expect. To see everything, you’ll just have to come and visit!
